THE BLOG

To summarize without frills, this blog is about anything that surrounds us, engulfs us, or inhabits us.

I used to think that life was a series of random moments and encounters thrown together in a whirlwind of complete chaos, producing consequential and randomly meaningful and meaningless events.  Then, the absolutely harsh and absolutely wonderful workings of the universe led me to believe that things are not as random as they seem.  This pissed me off to no end, and also gave me comfort beyond belief.

I named this blog “Observations of Reality, Fantasyland, and Everything in Between” to honor all those moments.  I always live in a mixture of reality, fantasyland, and everywhere in between.  They just all seem like normal parts of my every day.  Because things might happen for a reason…just maybe…I find amusement in observing the often frivolous and sometimes deep happenings around me.

Some of reality is trivial and some is profound.  It can be black and white, and sometimes boring and sometimes exciting.  But, regardless of its purpose, we need to live in and through each moment.  Then occasionally we slip into fantasyland, when colors seem more vivid than we can possibly imagine and all our surroundings are animated, as we float on top of them.  In this fantasyland, we can recreate ourselves, our surroundings, and whatever comes of it all.  And finally, yes, if there are those two extremes, then there must be all moments in between.

Oh, and just FYI, most of these observations are from and about NYC, since I’m a Brooklynite who works in Manhattan.  That means a lot of time spent on the F train.

ME.

A little sarcastic. A little sweet. A little focused. A little unorganized. And really none of this matters…life is too short to comtemplate who I am. What you see is what you get.

My right brain and left brain sometimes trip each other up. I work in a highly quantitative business world, while at the same time trying to expand my horizons by indulging in artistic mediums of all kinds. Both the easiest thing and the hardest thing of every day life is that both my right brain and left brain control me…and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
